Fat Flinging Friday - Kinda

Except that it's Saturday... Rhea at Mommy 2 3 Monkeys does a weekly Fat Flinging Friday to update her weightloss. I figured I've let the rest of my life hang out, why not start dishing on my weight, too?

First, I'm entirely too vain to actually tell my weight but surely you know that it's not the number I want to see. Duh. Since I have somewhere to throw the kids 4 mornings a week now I've been spending that time working out.

And a fat lot of good that did me. Pun totally intended!

I get on the scale after the first week and what I saw sent me directly into the ugly cry. I gained 10lbs. TEN! What. the. fuck? How is that even possible? And that was first thing in the morning, after I peed but before I drank anything, and does it need to be said, in my birthday suit? Cuz I don't take any chances, ya know?

Being a woman is exhausting!

So, this am I get on, taking all the necessary precautions and lost 4lbs. Then I realized I had my mouthwash in my mouth so I spit it out and stepped back up. Still -4lbs. Gotta be sure though!

I'm probably not gonna be able to do this again. Makes me want a cupcake!

I heard somewhere that muscles retain water for a few days after working out (esp. w/new/more intense activity), so it's normal to see a temporary weight gain before a loss. At least that's what I keep telling myself when my scale seems dyslexic!

I hate weighing myself. I also hate working out several times a week and not seeing any results on the scale. I ran a freaking 15K in March. 9.3 EFFING MILES and all that running I did to prepare for it and NOTHING to show on the scale. I cried. A lot.

I think I'm going to have to resort to starving myself. Which suuuucks.

Meh.

Anyways - good job on the 4lbs!

If there is one thing I've learned since embarking on this crazy fitness journey...STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALE!

If you're working out, you're gaining muscle. Muscle weighs more but takes up less room on the bod..so if you gain muscle, you lose inches. Go by the fit of your clothes you silly woman. Keep working out, you'll see the results and the benefits are not only physical but mental..it's the ONLY way I can make it through my days with four crazy kidlets at my ankles.

Have a good one!
Cheers

4 pounds is great! We don't have to think about the 10 pound gain that happened first. If I counted all the times I gained I would explode.

Besides muscle weighs more than fat. So you are building muscle. Yeah, that's its.

muscle definitely weighs more than fat . ... did you say ten pounds in one week? I don't think that is possible seriously you have a possessed scale there. My advice, throw it out the window and see if that fixes it.

All scales have been banned from my house and replaced with chocolate cake.

I just lost 3 kilos by being sick in bed for 3 days. But they bloody found me again. But wait, it must be the wine and malibu rum I drink at night....

I've had the same issue. Last two weeks I've been working out 6 days per week and have seen a slight rise on the scale. WTF?!

I guess it might be that I've been pigging out on Oreos and ice-cream in the evenings...dammit, I hate being a woman, too...

Congrats on the four down, though! Nice work!

Also, make sure you pee first before weighing in as well. We're talking half an ounce here, whatever it takes b/c you're right. Being a woman is hard

I've added Jazzercise classes four days a week to my walking as much as I can. After a month my weight really hasn't changed much but I have to keep hitching up my pants every time I move. Instead of using a scale, take your measurements and track your progress that way. You'll be pleasantly surprised!

I struggle with this as well... (don't we all?)

I decided a while ago to stop doing the scale dance.

But I think about it every morning.

It sits there on the floor... and mocks me.

I feel for you, my dear! Yes, being a woman sucks, but that 10 lb gain, thats what water pills are for..They are my friend! Feeling bloaty, take a water pill, works every time! And crap, I have been running in place for over 9 weeks now, and I've gained weight, so I guess it's in the water or something, it floated south, lol!!
